Picked this up for a quick campaign starter, and the random character generation tables are a blast—rolled up a grizzled herbalist in under two minutes. The dark Wood setting feels genuinely creepy, and the treasure hooks keep you flipping pages.

I’ve been running solo sessions in the Wood, and the random tables for folk and treasures already sparked two completely different quests I hadn’t planned. The character generation took just a few minutes, leaving more time for the strange encounters that keep me coming back.

The quick random character generation got us straight into the story without any fuss. I just wish the book included a few more pre-written adventure hooks to kick things off.
