Of Hearth and the Harrowing コアルールブック

The survival mechanics are brutally clever—managing your hearth's warmth while fending off horrors makes every session tense. I've already run two scenarios and the Basic Role system handles combat smoothly. Perfect for players who want dark fantasy without the usual heroic tropes.

I was blown away by how well the Chaosium Basic Role-Playing system works with the grimdark survival horror theme—the rules feel tight and purposeful. The character creation section alone has me already planning my next doomed party.

The survival mechanics are brutal enough to make every session feel tense, which is exactly what I wanted for a grimdark setting. I wish the book included a few more pre-written scenarios for busy game masters, but the core system is solid.
