The communal projects really change how you play with your group, since everyone’s racing to either finish the edifice or dodge the penalty. The extra Engineers Guild card from preordering is a nice bonus, and it fits right into the base game without feeling overpowered.

The pressure to join a communal project or get left behind is such a clever mechanic, it really changes how you negotiate with the table. Even when I lost a round, watching the edifice rise with everyone’s contribution felt like a shared win. Engineers Guild card was a nice bonus for preordering.

The communal building projects add a fantastic layer of strategy, as you have to decide which edifices to support or sabotage. I love that it makes you interact with other players much more than in typical city-building games. The preorder bonus card is a nice touch too.
