Medicine in Imperial Rome is an art of celebrated advances, an art of showmanship, and bitter rivalry between practitioners, all with their entourages. Nevertheless, there is one doctor above all others: Galenus. The writings of this second-century Greco-Roman would be the epitome of medicine for one thousand years.

The detailed player boards for tracking your medical entourage are incredibly well-designed and make the complex rivalry mechanics feel smooth. I was genuinely surprised how quickly the game flowed once we got into the second round.

Set-up takes about ten minutes, but once the rival doctor entourages start jockeying for patients, the tension is real. The way each practitioner’s reputation builds and crashes feels authentically cutthroat for an ancient Roman medical scene. I’ve already played three rounds this week and keep find

I love how the game really captures the cutthroat competition of ancient Roman medicine. The player boards with their detailed entourage tracks add a nice strategic layer.
