Takeover is a tactical ladder climber that always gives you an out. You play as a syndicate manager vying for control of the last publicly traded city. To beat your rivals, you’ll need tactics, strategy, and a dash of luck. Unlike most ladder climbers, you’re not limited to just playing with the cards in your hand and there is no pass. Instead you’ll:

  • Pressure rivals with powerful formations
  • Take, swap, or play cards from a shared market
  • Use game-altering powers to gain the upper hand

Be the first to play out all your freelancers and The City is yours.

Emma ★★★★★

I love how the "always gives you an out" mechanic means I never feel totally stuck, even when a rival blocks my plan. The syndicate manager role makes every decision feel high-stakes, and the tactical depth keeps each game fresh.

Andrew ★★★☆☆

The ladder-climbing mechanic is clever, but the rulebook could be clearer for new players. The "always gives you an out" promise feels true enough, though the game can drag a bit with four people. It’s fine for a few rounds, just not something I’d pull out every game night.
