It is the beginning of the Meiji era. Once a sleepy fishing village, Yokohama has now developed into one of Japan’s busiest trade centers. Countless Japanese goods, such as copper and raw silk, transit through Yokohama before being shipped to foreign countries while technology steadily trickles in and profoundly changes the Japanese lifestyle.

In this stand-alone game, you and your opponent compete to dominate the market. Roam the streets, strategically manage your merchant, and build a successful business empire while enlisting the aid of foreign agents. Each district in Yokohama offers unique benefits. Use them wisely to outplay your opponent. Achieve coveted goals, master new technology, and chart your path to victory.

I've played this a few times now and the way you manage trade routes with the silk and copper really captures the feel of building up a port. The board looks great on the table and the mechanics feel fresh even after repeated plays.

Steven ★★★★☆

The trade mechanic where you place assistants on the board to claim actions feels really tight, and the Meiji-era theme actually comes through in the art and flavor. Took us about 90 minutes for a four-player game, which felt just right. Only nitpick is the rulebook could be clearer on the end-game
