It is the anniversary of your country’s liberation. The struggle for independence was bloody, and left you bereft. You have a tradition of gathering for a dinner before heading to the public plaza to watch the countdown to the midnight hour of your freedom – so many years ago.

Midnight in a Perfect World is a game about relationships – with those who survived, and those who did not. It is a game of broken hearts and haunted nations.

Midnight in a Perfect World is a GMless game for 4 players. It must be played for a minimum of 3 hours, with a timer set for the duration. Play occurs in conversation over diegetic time, moderated by a facilitator (Host) who enforces the phases of play. A typical game session lasts 4 hours, including extra time to introduce the game, build characters, play out the final moments of the game and then debrief.

Avery ★★★★★

We played through the anniversary dinner scene last night, and the way it forces you to confront who’s missing from the table hit harder than any combat mechanic I’ve seen in a TTRPG. The public plaza setup afterward felt earned, not tacked on. Already planning a second run to see how different choi

Charlotte ★★★★★

The dinner setup mechanic made our first session feel genuinely heavy and personal—we spent nearly an hour just roleplaying the toast before the plaza. That opening scene alone was worth the price.
