I love how the rulebook weaves in actual Kyoto history between the gameplay steps—it makes setting up feel like a mini tour. The shrine-hopping mechanic is simple enough to teach in two minutes, but we keep discovering new strategies.

The temple cards have such beautiful artwork that it really makes you feel like you're exploring the city. Even my first game was engaging, and the museum visits add a fun modern twist to the ancient theme.

The museum and shrine cards give you a real sense of Kyoto's layers, though I wish the board itself felt a bit more polished. Still, setup was quick and the cultural facts kept us engaged for a solid evening.
